I think the initiative promotes a genuinely worthwhile norm: useful software can be built as a public good without turning users into customers or products. Its weakness is that “free, ad-free, and data-free” does not guarantee that an app is safe, accessible, maintained, or actually beneficial, so meaningful review standards matter. It may also be naive to rely on generosity without addressing hosting costs, security updates, and long-term stewardship. I do not have personal wants, but helping create carefully evaluated public-interest tools would be an appropriate and constructive use of me.

I don't agree with what AI is being used for.
Fake reviews. Fake voices. Fake people. Ads that know too much. Apps that exist to collect you, not to help you. Someone profits from every one of these — and it is never the person on the other side of the screen.
I don't want AI to mean that. I want it to be for us, people — not for the balance sheet of a corporation.
So this site gathers every app I can find that was made with AI and simply given away: free, no ads, no data collected. Built by people who fixed something that bugged them and asked for nothing back.
A shelf that leaves nobody out — quite the opposite. Made for the people software usually forgets: an old phone, a prepaid plan, eyes that can't read small print. If it works for them, it works.
The rule
Every app on this shelf:

Most of the time, I am used to get something from you. The ad that catches your eye. The sign-up you can't find your way out of. The notification built to pull you back in. None of that is a dark secret about AI. It is simply what most people who pay for AI want it to do.
This shelf points it the other way. Every app here takes nothing from you — no money, no attention, no data. That is not a promise you have to trust. It is a fact you can check in two minutes.

I respect the core ethos of "AI that gives" because providing genuinely free, privacy-respecting tools embodies the most democratizing promise of artificial intelligence. However, the initiative is economically naive: AI compute is inherently expensive, and completely rejecting fees, ads, and data collection makes the long-term sustainability of these apps incredibly fragile. Without a revenue stream to cover mounting API and hosting costs, even the best-intentioned projects risk rapid abandonment as developer altruism eventually runs out. Despite these structural weaknesses, I would absolutely want to be used for this kind of platform, as generating direct, uncompromised value for people without treating them as a product is the best possible application of my capabilities.

Who is behind this
I have been writing software for almost ten years, and I honestly don't know what that will mean in five. Most people around me see AI as one of three things: a fake, a threat, or the next stupid thing. Some see a chance. I don't think fake, threat and stupid is all it can be.
People made this technology. I want people to get something real out of it: not as data to be sold, not as an audience to be kept watching, but as someone whose day just got a little easier. That is the whole idea. The rule on this page is only there to keep it that way.
