About the app
What it does
Quiet Window is a small Chrome extension: pick the weekdays and the hours when you want to focus, pick which of the supported social, video and streaming sites to block, and during those hours they redirect to a quiet local page. Changes to the schedule apply the next day, so the boundary holds when it is tested.
Who it's for
Anyone who wants a little friction between themselves and the usual distractions, without a productivity dashboard, an account or streaks.
What it doesn't do
It blocks only sites from its fixed list; you cannot add your own. There is no pause during active hours, and it does not claim to be impossible to disable: like any extension it can be removed from Chrome's settings. It does not sync between devices.
For the curious
What I checked
Checked
Installed on my own phone, permissions read from the finished build, network traffic watched. Everything the app downloads comes from one place: a script on GitHub fetches the sources below, turns them into small files and serves them from there. The app never talks to these institutions directly.
Permissions
- Storagekeeps your schedule and chosen sites in Chrome, on your device.
- Alarmsa timer that checks once a minute whether focus hours have started or ended.
- Blocking rulesChrome's own request-blocking (declarativeNetRequest) for a fixed list of about 25 sites; the extension never sees what you browse.
Talks to
- Nobodythe code (19 files, 22 KB) contains no network call. The only address in it is Chrome's own update service, which every store extension has.
Not in the app
No analytics, no tracking, no remote code, no external APIs, no account, no ads.
